maximus — Yes, I prefer the 2-dot. It’s less cluttered when shooting in daylight and very easy to get lined up in the dark.

Todd, sorry for going off-topic there!

From your comments I assume that you find the 2-dot configuration (which to me looks similar to how the Heinie “straight-8″ sights are set up) is preferable to a 3-dot approach, for all-around use?

I’m thinking about getting some aftermarket sights for both my M&P’s, and am really considering this 2-dot configuration, particularly the Warrens. I’ve had it on one pistol before–a Taurus–and really liked the quick acquisition you could get.

red – the three-dot configuration is very busy during daylight shooting and many serious shooters find it distracting. However, a plain (no dot) rear doesn’t work as well under certain low-light conditions. So the single dot, especially being in a different color as it is on the Warren, provides both contrast and fast alignment under stress.

Regarding the night sights: Why aren’t there dots on the rear sight that would flank the front dot when align correctly?

Its weird that you say the cleaning brings the bad luck…..all five or so stoppages in 4000 + rounds in my MP40 happened on a fresh and clean gun….hmmmmmmmm…

+ I knew you would be bad about the cleaning….Looks like an oil spill occured in your gun.

Good to see no recent stoppages…keep it up.!!!
