Warren + JohnO = Goodness

We’ve received some requests from folks wanting to see what the Warren rear 1-dot sight looks like in daylight. Here it is pictured with the newly redone “JohnO” front sight treatment.

  2. You mentioned this is a ‘prototype’ Warren rear. Is there anything you would change? I hope these go into production soon.

  3. I know from personal experience that you can use the rear sight to perform one-handed malfunction clearance drills, but a sharper shelf would be an improvement in my opinion.

The rear dot would be even less noticeable during daylight shooting if the steel ring around it was smaller, but I’m guessing that is a limitation of the technology and not by design.

From a “hitting things fast & accurately under stress” standpoint, they’re about as perfect a rear sight as you’ll ever find.

  4. Wow that’s a great set up. Reminds me of the old revolver set up with the big red front site. Great Job!

  5. I periodically get cut by my Warren rear sight. The inside rear corner of the U-notch on my example is quite sharp. If I inadvertently drag my fingers across the sight with the pistol holstered (when clearing a light cover garment), my hand will come up bloody.

I’ve considered taking a stone to the sharp edge, but dont want to (i) create a spot that will glare or otherwise reflect light, or (ii) upset the geometry of the sight.

  6. BIX can’t you use a stone or extra fine sand paper just to knock the edge down a bit like you said then use some perma-blue to touch up the metal?

  7. How about a Sharpie for the metal ring?
