  2. Let’s just hope that the fab five stay healthy for a few more years, at least through the current administration. The 5/4 is just cutting it way too close for comfort.

  3. Screw the World Cup; THIS IS NEWS!!!
    Sounds like a party tonight!!!
Let’s see Open Carry in all 50 states next!!!

  4. I’d settle for just concealed carry here in Illinois, I hate everything about this place.

  5. Its a great day in our Nation!!!

Now we just need jail time for those that passed the handgun ban in the first place!!

  6. While this is a win for gun owners I don’t see much changing for Chicago. Daley and his group of thugs will make it next to impossible for law-abiding citizens to purchase and own guns. Meanwhile it will be business as usual for the criminals. Common sense isn’t so common.

  7. MW – I agree regarding Daley. He is a cruel, ignorant prick of the lowest kind. However, don’t forget that he is an ELECTED prick. Chicago has every opportunity to FIRE that S.O.B.. If they refuse that opportunity, they will regret it when they or their children are attacked, or their door is being kicked in.

  8. So Todd, as the most pro-gun attorney I know, what does it all mean aside from a feel good moment?

  9. (1) I am on inactive status from the bar, so it’s not technically correct to call myself an attorney. So stop calling me bad names like that. 8)

    (2) Basically, by my reading and after talking to some real legal beagle experts, I’d say the decision was a very good one for our side. Will gun laws magically disappear off the books? No. But the door is wide open for challenges on a lot of fronts, and municipal/state governments are going to have a tall mountain to climb if they want to justify restrictions on the right to keep and bear.

It really was a big win for our side, second is two years!

  11. Best thing about my day was hearing this ruling and reading Scalia’s concurrence, and I had a pretty good day!

Seriously though, I could read an opinion by Scalia any day and feel better – that man has a gift for eloquently and factually calling you an idiot (or worse).

  12. I find the ironic/great thing about this case was that Otis McDonald voted for Daley. Now he got to stick it to him. I feel sorry for the guy knowing he lives where he lives. A little chlorine for the gene pool would do wonders in that place!

  13. Fortunately, the USSC has shown again that individual liberties aren’t subject to a majority vote by the people. But yes, the Chicago machine will just make rules that might as well keep the ban in place.

  14. Great for now. I wonder about the future though. This is “settled law” only until Obama or another Democratic Prez replaces one of the five. “Stare decisis” won’t mean a thing…
