Irons vs. Lasers III: 4567

27-Apr-12 – 11:37 by ToddG

The latest adventure comparing my Crimson Trace LG-850 Lasergrips to the great Ameriglo CAP/Pro Operator night sights was very interesting. I used Chris Edwards’s 4567 Drill, which also happens to be the Drill of the Week at this week.

Technically, the laser won… by literally one one-hundredth of a second.

Irons Laser
Total Score 12.73s 12.72s
String 1, 2H 2.34s 2.12s
String 2, SHO 4.52s 3.77s
String 3, WHO 3.40s 3.73s, -1pt
String 4, 2H 2.47s 2.10s

The results don’t tell the whole tale, however. The LG-850 is really doing a number on my left hand when I shoot WHO, to the point where I’m literally developing a flinch from the discomfort I feel from each shot. I’m hoping it will resolve itself with some dry fire and practice before heading to Rogers next month.

Train hard & stay safe! ToddG

  2. So you need to start carrying two pistols, one with a Lasergrip for strong hand shooting, and a separate one sans Lasergrip for weak hand shooting…

  3. Yeah, and carry them in a duel wielding shoulder holster. LIKE…A…BOSS.

  4. Nah, not a shoulder holster. ToddG is a hard core gunslinger–he needs to carry them in a dual cowboy rig. That or go all modern on us and carry dual AIWB…

  5. So what exactly is causing the discomfort?
And I vote for the dual AIWB….

  6. He just needs a New York Reload holster . . .

Why NO love from sight manufacturers for us guys with Sigs? xD

And don’t say: get a real pistol or I will have to drown your goldfish.

  8. JLM! Trijicon makes its “HD” sights for the SIG. While I don’t like them quite as much as the Ameriglo CAP/Pro combo, they’re certainly very good sights. In fact, they’re the sights I have on my backup G17.

  9. Very impressed that the results were so close with the Night Sights. Wouldn’t want to be on the opposing team against either gun! lol
