In a decision that surprised a number of people who’d been following the case closely, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals today reversed a lower court ruling and gave the Illinois state legislature six months to craft a concealed carry law. Rather than parrot what little I know about the decision already, I’ll let you follow the link and read for yourself.
edited to add: The more I think about this, it’s really quite brilliant. By giving Illinois just 180 days to enact a CCW statute, it forces the state to put any appeal on the fast track. That means if it gets to the Supreme Court, it could happen very quickly… while we still have the same people on the bench who decided Heller and McDonald.
