.45’s and 1911s

A friend pointed out to me recently that I’ve carried plenty of .45’s (a Glock 30, multiple SIG P220’s, and obviously the HK45) over the years but the only 1911 I’ve ever owned or carried is a 9mm.

  1. You have no 1911s in .45? If you want it to stay that way, you MUST stay away from RogersPrecision.com. You have been warned. Or something.

  2. You shoot a lot of rounds a year for .45. Not so much the cost, but the stress on joints and tendons could get pretty punitive up around the 50k mark.

    In light of that, I’d encourage you not to try it. While 9mm in a steel 1911 is “like cheating,” .45 in a 1911 feels so korrekt I can’t believe the Germans didn’t invent it.
