Accuracy Matters

The Burton 9mm Commander averaged 1.507″ five shot groups from a foam rest at 25yd. Ammunition is Federal 124gr +p HST. This is the best of the groups at 0.776 inches.

  1. Great accuracy but I am equally impressed that you can effectively see that dot at 25 yards.

  2. SteveJ — Indoor range. Plus it’s a green CTC so it would probably even work outdoors.

    Gerard — It’s a joy to own. It’s a gun to shoot. 😎

  3. Good opportunity for me to ask an anal-retentive question. Aren’t we really referring more about precision? Accuracy means hitting your target. “Precision” would be how well, how consistent, or how tight your groups or shots are.

  4. that was unsighted fire right?

Impressive group from a foam rest I have to say.

  5. NWGlocker — Yes, it’s precision over targeting/accuracy technically. But “accuracy” has come to mean group size in just about everyone’s mind so I use the term that way.

Robbie — Eyes closed, using the Force (#sithlivesmatter).

Actually, I used a laser as mentioned above. I always do whenever one is available for the pistol because it takes my eyesight out of the equation.

  6. I’ve tried using a laser at 25 and it’s near impossible for me to see it properly, I’ve been thinking of using a spotting scope and laser. Do you use any optics along with the laser?

  7. Great shooting with a well built gun. I should get out my Springfield Loaded 9mm and see what it will do at 25.

  8. secondscount: that would be interesting but not a valid comparison to Todd’s target. What you need to do is have Todd send the Heirloom to you; you shoot both so it takes the user out of the equation.

Of course you’d need to send it back to him.
    🙂

  9. Can you provide the manufacturer of the foam rest ? I have looked at several and they seem too flexible.

  10. Bob — It’s not mine, there are a bunch of them available for customer use at the NRA Range. They may be custom made. Sorry!
