“Gunslinger’s” explanation:

Here’s another “efficiency in motion” drill that evaluates one’s ability to draw, fire quickly and accurately with a two handed grip, then transfer to the strong hand and engage accurately, then transfer to the support hand and engage accurately. Sounds pretty easy eh? Well, it is! When you have what it takes….confidence, efficiency in motion, and sound fundamentals. Here’s how it works:
Range is 10 yards.
Par time is 10 seconds.
Round count is 10 rounds all on one target (a Transtar II type preferably or a target with a similar engagement area).
At the sound of the tone:
- draw
- fire 4 rounds two handed
- transfer to the strong hand only
- fire 3 rounds
- transfer to the support hand
- fire 3 rounds
Done. No misses, all rounds must be within the scoring zone. 10 seconds.
Add difficulty by using a smaller scoring area, further distance, or less time.
Good shooting!

(from the editor: as with previous drills involving transfer from one hand to the other, please remember to be careful. If you should drop the gun during the drill, let it fall to the ground and do not try to catch it in midair. If you try to catch it, the odds are very good that you’ll snatch the trigger and discharge the gun accidentally)

Hmmm, sounds familiar. I am gonna have to get into this free hat gig. Very nice number one. No doubt you will be wearing it next time I see you. I know how much you like free stuff.
Someone has to say it, I guess it will be me! Every time you guys refer to one another by number, it makes you sound like Get Smart from CONTROL. Though I admit I’ve met a couple of 99 look-a-likes at your agency. 8)
Told you it’s a Triple Nickel fraternity, lol, and a decision has been made by the numbered masses. That’s why I have been avoiding you and I must abide buy their collective decision lest I lose my number.
Tried this drill today. Very interesting. I didn’t have a Transtar so just used a 5×8 card at 10yd. My first run I misjudged the time and came up one shot too slow. The second run I yanked a WHO shot. The third run I finally got all the hits. This was from concealment (appendix IWB with an untucked polo).
