Gen4 G17 Quasi-Update

I’d hoped to get a comprehensive update on the test gun this week, but between SHOT Show and various projects that stemmed from it as well as the beginning of the teaching season — I’m teaching in NY this weekend — I’ve had little time to shoot and less time to post.

Next week I’ll definitely get caught up, though because of the light shooting/practice schedule it probably won’t be terribly exciting.

To answer a question that has come up quite a few times: The G17 gen4 is going to remain my daily/test gun for the foreseeable future.

Train hard & stay safe! ToddG

  1. I wanted to be the first to say, Thank you for the update.

I realized I was also the last to comment in the Integrity comments, but I appreciate what you do and what you offer. You’re a good man Todd, you present great info, and you share information to us, that sometimes we take for granted. What I’d like to do is take a moment to thank you for this, and what you’ve done, the sacrifices, the time. Yeah everyone looks at it and says “Oh he lives the life”, but truthfully, we always gloss over the hardships, and see what our heart envies.

Thank you for it, and please, be encouraged, I think you’re a very respectable individual in the industry and one of the hardest working. Thank you for what you do for free for us. I’d like to take a class one day from you, that being said, I’ve got a Glock 17 Gen 4 now, and I enjoy the test, flaws and all, and I feel like you’ve always told us the truth, and always put your best foot forward. God knows there’s not a lot of money in being honest and having integrity, you could sell out.

But you don’t, and for that, you have my sincerest respect.

You’re also pretty darn funny. Don’t sweat the small/petty stuff we’ve seen crop up lately.

    Take care man, God bless.

    Brandon.

And don’t forget—99% of it all is small/petty stuff.

  3. BWT — I’m heading out the door shortly for NY, but just wanted to take a quick second to thank you very sincerely for the kind words. I’ve been incredibly fortunate and owe what measure of success I’ve had to mentors, family, friends, and perhaps more than anything else to the incredible students I’ve met who’ve helped me grow as an instructor.

Again, thank you. Definitely made my day…

  4. I’m finding your research in the Glock Gen 4 facinating. I’m relativly new to your website but I continue to expand my knowledge from it.

  5. Dammit. Disappointed.

The whole world already knows Glocks last forever. Even your Gen4 has thrown more lead downrange in the past few months than 99.99% of all Glock owners will shoot in their lifetimes. And since a Glock 200,000 round test has already been done…there’s nothing left to prove.

I love my Glocks, but at this point you’re really just preaching to the choir, so to speak.

    I’ll check back later.

Hope to see you in a class this summer.

    I’ll be shooting a Glock.

  6. I was one who had a few suggestions when the question about continuing with the Glock test was fielded… mainly because I was interested in seeing how a couple of guns that were on my “might buy” list would fare. 😉

I am glad the Glock is still facing the abuse, though, as I finally decided on a Glock 19 Gen4 with some of the same upgrades Todd has incorporated here. It will be educational to see where the failure points are likely to be!

Thanks, Todd, for all you do!
