Gen4 Glock Photo Released

DannyR over at GlockTalk has posted a photo from the last page of the 2010 Glock Calendar which clearly shows the new Gen4 pistol.

(I’m still under a non-disclosure agreement and cannot discuss my personal experiences with the guns at this time)

  1. I’m not blown away or jumping up and down but I like what I see. I’ll hold off final judgement until after I get to see, hold and shoot one with the various backstraps installed. But I’m impressed that Glock made the change.

  2. Really? Looks just like any glock but with a backstrap you can change. It is something pretty much every other maker does now. Other then that what, they changed the checker on the grip? Waiting to see more but feel let down. (Yet strangely not surprised)

  3. New mag release, RTF3 checkering, backstraps, internal changes that you cannot see. I’ll try one out. I’m still searching for a .40 S&W gun that I like.

  4. looking forward to Todd’s review. also looking for someone to do an overlay of a current Glock on that one, so we can any subtle differences in the shape of the frame, especially the beaver tail.

  5. ok played around with it in Photodraw (yeah I suck). I’ll try and send Todd the pic I’ve done.

  6. Yawn. When Glock builds a sub-subcompact single stack nine, ala the Kahr PM9, then, and only then will I get excited. And then I’ll buy TWO of them.

  7. totally happy with my 21sf. i love it, stock plastic sights and all. i know it is blasphemy to say it on here but i like it more than the m&p 45s i had. i am not a fan of the RTF design though.

  8. Been holding off on getting a 17 since word of these came out, now I at least have a reason to take advantage of Glocks discount program, maybe then trading in my 19 for a Gen4 when those are released. Too many guns I want, still have a P30 and an LCP on my list as well.

  9. I’m a little let down with these… I’ve had many Glocks and was hoping for more of a leap with the Gen 4 than what it appears it is going to deliver. Full-size Glocks fit me just fine, so the biggest change with the changeable backstraps doesn’t do much for me, but i dig the “in-between” texture that’s supposedly similar to, but not quite as aggressive as the RTF2 guns, however, as someone with lots of trigger time with the RTF2 Glock’s, the “fish gills” work better than the older slide serrations, and I’m surprised the “function over looks” mentality of Glock went out the window here and they decided to go with the old serrations based purely on just how many didn’t like the aesthetics of the far more functional “fish gills”…
Don’t think it goes far enough to fend off the assault in the market from the M&P, even with all the external changes, the Glock action still means some mush in the pull no matter what, whereas the way the M&P’s sear works and can be made to break like a 1911, albeit while slightly more complicated, still wins in the trigger department after all else.

  10. I just hope in trying to get the G22s working they don’t “fix” the G17 and G19 too much.

  11. I just read a test on the G22 gen4, a production example was tested(Its not toll marked gen4 as shown in the pic). No big surprises, different grip texture/curved grasping serrations. No mention of interchangeable back strap though. The testers did say the finger grooving on the front strap have also been made smaller on the gen4 unit.

  12. I like it, but I already have a couple of Gen 3 pistols. I think I’m stuck with ’em unless I can work a trade to a Gen 4. My current guns are too reliable, easy to run and accurate to get rid of just to have a Gen 4…but I would really like to have a couple. This one may be the .40 I’ve needed to get for a while now.

  13. I would be really into it if Glock would drop the out of date striker tech. They need to make one with an updated hammer fired system. ;P

  14. More Glock Stuff??????
Man, is this going to be just another one of those Austrian best sellers that shoot every time you pull the trigger, function flawlessly, are easy to clean (optional), rugged as hell, and piss off all the range jockeys who like “purdy” guns???
Boring. Sounds like just another shameless attempt by Glock to get their quality product into the hands of every person on earth. It’s like they would want everyone to have a gun that works every time. Those bastards!
