Boring. Yes, just 250 rounds downrange this past week, and all during last weekend’s Aim Fast, Hit Fast in New Mexico (read reviews of the class here and here). Other than pulling off a couple of sub-5 clean F.A.S.T. runs during the class — including one where I proved that you actually can reload and talk to the guy running the timer simultaneously 8) — there just wasn’t anything particularly Glocky to report.
Interesting random comparison to previous tests:
- G17 gen4 at 24 weeks: 33,760 rounds
- HK45 at 24 weeks: 34,257 rounds
- HK P30 at 24 weeks: 47,947 rounds
- S&W M&P9 at 24 weeks: 47,618 rounds
I’m actually headed to the range this evening with some good friends and hopefully will get at least another couple of range sessions before next Friday’s report.
Train hard & stay safe! ToddG

I would probably give a kidney to someone for the opportunity to call 250 rounds in a week boring 🙂
Please see the exchange forum on pistol-forum.com to make that trade. A spare kidney could come in handy.
I agree… 250 rounds.. I will out bid Rob and go for 500 rounds for the kidney. I have blinds and a TLG class to pay for….
At my current age, assuming I live 30 more years, that would be 390,000 rounds of ammunition:)
Approximate value of $78,000 🙂
Officially taking bids.
I cannot guarantee the condition of the kidney though, I get free soft drinks at work:)
If we look at the comparison of the other pistols…the 45 was not that pleasurable to shoot extended strings with. Recoil and all. However the Glock 17 is below that round count at week 24 as well.
Todd, could it be the Glock just doesn’t excite you that much? It just seems the M&P and (but this is no secret) P30 just rocked your boat a little bit more? Hence you found excuses to go shoot them. Just wondering. 🙂
Lin — There are a number of factors. First is simply time and opportunity… I’m teaching more now than I was in ’08 and ’09 which means more travel and thus fewer range sessions. Mondays and Fridays are my “main” practice days and if I fly somewhere for a class, I usually miss both.
Also, with the first three tests there was a company paying for the ammo and wanting the guns to reach a certain round count by a certain point (generally the SHOT Show in January) and my pace was dictated partially by that. When I began this test, I made the conscious decision to shoot at my own practice pace rather than trying to shoot a ton just for the sake of shooting.
Finally, the Glock test started off pretty slowly due to all the problems I was experiencing with the original extractor.
Fair enough. However I own both a Glock 23 and a P30L. The Glock will never be a HK. 😉
You are still putting out 1,400 rounds per week with the Glock! Just sayin’.
Tony, I do believe this post started with the sentence “..just 250 rounds downrange this past week…”
Just saying. 🙂
