While teaching a 3-day program for a law enforcement agency in Texas, I loaned the test gun to one of the deputies for a few rounds on a drill. He was interested in seeing how the Ameriglo CAP front/Operator Pro rear sight combo worked. Sure enough, in less than a magazine’s worth of shooting, he had a failure of the gun to cycle completely. He’s an experienced Glock shooter and was using factory ammo (UMC 115gr MC). It was quickly cleared and shooting continued. That’s the first stoppage since Week 26, sixteen thousand rounds ago.
I also had an embarrassing user-induced problem during a F.A.S.T. demo one day. The magazine failed to drop completely free during the reload, and when I brought the fresh magazine to the gun it actually pushed the empty back into the gun. I had to press the mag button again and wait for the empty to drop before I could continue. Luckily, it was fun for everyone…

I had exactly the same thing happen with a mag today. Weird. There must be something in the air…

I’ve been training some guys lately and while shooting gen 4ever with no in the gun, two g22’s have had failures to extract. The spent casing actually gets crushed by the slide right around the feed ramp. Have you seen this? Any fixes? one gun had the newest 0 1 4 spring, the other did not.

Yeah, that’ll tack on a couple extra tenths, right there…
aaron — that’s not unusual for Glocks and many other brands of handguns. The pistol is designed to work with either the follower or the next round in the mag blocking downward movement of the brass as it extracts. If the brass is able to fall down into the magazine well, it may not eject hard enough to clear the port before the slide closes. Nothing to worry about. It’s like saying “if I take the firing pin out of my gun it doesn’t work right.”
