LTT Grip Anchor

Ernest Langdon, of LTT, sent me the Grip Anchor a couple of months ago and I have been using it on my G19 ever since. In general, grip inserts are useful on Glocks for several reasons. The first reason is to keep dirt and debris out of the Glock, ala the famous sand test years ago. The second reason is to aid in reloading. I had been using the C&H Precision Speed Feed for the past couple of years, and it is really excellent. It still resides on my G17, and LTT also sells those if you are interested in them. I replaced the Speed Feed on my 19 with the Grip Anchor for testing purposes, and I do believe it will stay there.

Without a good insert, it is easy to get a magazine caught on the rear of the magazine well. Like other options out there, the Grip Anchor takes care of that, but it also gives me more real estate to funnel the mag into the well, making it harder to miss the reload.

I have always shot a G17 better than a G19 and one reason is that the longer grip of the 17 gives me a more consistently fast draw. Much of that is because of the longer front strap, but adding the Grip Anchor to a G19 gets me almost halfway to the 17. Obviously, you cannot make the front strap longer, but the longer backstrap gives me a little more real estate for the draw. The longer rear grip of the 19 with the Grip Anchor also gives me more leverage to control recoil. I cannot quantify it, but the gun does seem to recoil better for me, much like a G45 does. I think guys with bigger hands than mine might see a bigger difference still.

Finally, the Grip Anchor does these things without seeming to hurt the concealability of my 19. It should, as longer is longer, but since it is contoured well and doesn’t extend beyond the floorplate of the magazine, it seems to conceal just as well as the stock grip of the 19.

I have used all of the various inserts on the market at one time or another. Some guys I knew were stuffing earplugs in the space before that. The Grip Anchor is the latest evolution of that idea, and aside from being very high quality, it also brings some new design improvements to the field. On a G19, I see no downsides and several improvements. I do not see a reason to use an add-on magwell, now that the Grip Anchor is available.

  1. Yeah? Well, good luck if your magazine ever gets jammed/stuck in your pistol. You just blocked the best way to get it out.

    1. I too like to try and come up with hypothetical problems to solve and am happy to say that there is no problem removing stuck mags with the Grip Anchor in place. Thanks for reading and commenting, have a nice day!
