LTT P30L Secures First Wins of the Season

This past week I was invited to shoot on a local law enforcement team at a charity shoot. Though I’m not a member of that department, the rules allowed for it, and the guys on the team are guys I have worked with and shot with for the past 10 years. The shoot was open to civilians as well as police and most of the top shooters in the area were there. Individual shooters were scored based on the division they shot in, so we had everything from open to production, with carry optics being the biggest division. The shoot was to raise money for the Special Olympics and consisted of 3 stages of fire. The first stage was similar to PPC and was shot on a USPSA target with diagonal hard cover blocking about half of it. The second stage was the same course of fire but on a Bianchi tombstone target. The third stage was a steel shoot with 10 targets and a mandatory reload.

I am very proud to say that not only did my team win, but I won both the carry optics division as well as the overall win. One gold coin was for the team win and the other was for the carry optics win. Shooting the LTT P30L against open guns really shows how shootable the gun is and the P30L performed flawlessly. If you can identify the third award in the picture, let me know in the comments. Technically, that was the first win for the LTT P30L, though it wasn’t a formal competition. After last week’s success, the P30L will partake in its first-ever Action Pistol match this weekend, shooting against the best in the sport.

  1. SLG,

Can you provide any thoughts on switching between the Gray Guns flat trigger and the factory curved trigger?

Looking to pick up a LTT P30L and am curious to hear your thoughts.

  2. The flat trigger works really well for SA shots, and is very high quality. I find that the original curved trigger doesn’t feel as good as the flat trigger, but is better for DA shots and perfectly fine for SA shots. If the flat trigger was a bit thinner (not as wide across the face) it would work better for DA than it does now. If the factory curved trigger was a little less curved, it would be better across the board. All of this is of course in relation to my hand size and shape. Ultimately, both triggers work well, but curved triggers have always been understood to be superior for DA shooting and just fine for SA shooting. I got away with using the flat trigger for DA shooting, but the thinner curve does allow me to be more aggressive on the DA shot. Hope that helps.
