Next Level Training has released the plastic-slide version of its enormously successful SIRT training pistol. As mentioned here at pistol-training.com back in January, the new SIRT, called the “Performer,” has a plastic slide and two red lasers.
It lists on NLT’s website for $219 MSRP, one hundred dollars less than the metal-slide “Student” model which also uses two red lasers. It is literally half the price of the original PRO red/green laser model.
The “Performer” comes with one adjustable weight magazine and a free copy of NLT’s new training DVD, just like the Student and PRO models. The Performer weighs in at four ounces less than the Student and PRO versions.
I’ve found the SIRT to be an invaluable tool for teaching, dry fire practice, and force-on-force training. The fact that NLT has worked so hard over the past year to provide the same general capability to shooters for half the cost of the PRO model is just amazing. If you’ve been sitting on the fence about getting a SIRT because of the price tag, your excuse just went out the door.

I keep thinking about getting one as I use a Glock 17 for competitions but I feel like in order for it to be effective I’d need to have the same trigger and sight set up as I have on Glock. I think you can swap the sights but I don’t know how similar the internals are to a glock, if I’d be able to swap out a trigger connector.
The trigger on the student model SIRT I have is highly adjustable. Don’t know if you could get it exactly the same, but it has a lot of variability. I don’t know if the Performer has a different trigger group, but I haven’t seen any mention of that so far. The manual explains the adjustments. http://www.nextleveltraining.com/content/sirt-manuals starting on page 7.
Dear NLT,
Please make an M&P version. The ovation will be deafening.
I feel like in order for it to be effective I’d need to have the same trigger and sight set up as I have on Glock.
The value is really in the reps. It teaches the eyes to see the sights, whatever they may be, and the finger working the trigger, whatever that may be.
Is having something identical going to teach you more? Probably, but the value in having something that is even 75% the same is already something…
Hilton Yam, of 10-8 Performance, really summed it up well.
Les that link makes a lot of sense. I suppose I just have to buy one when I have some spare dough.
Just checked with NLT and they said there’s no problem with swapping the sights out for metal one’s with the plastic slide. That sealed the deal for me.
BTW – I think that NLT might be able to get NRA Trainers a hook up on the price…
Jesse, that might save you another 50 or so bucks…
