As we’ve reported previously, the next generation Glock frame will have an adjustable backstrap. I confirmed yesterday that it will also have a reversible magazine button. Some other enhancements are also possible but not finalized at this time.

None of that is necessary, and I don’t see why Glock is even messing with modifications. Is this to imply that the all knowing geniuses at Glock are admiting that perhaps it wasn’t “perfection” after all?
Considering that Just about every other plastic pistol on the market has already done this isn’t Glock a little late to the game?

Simply put, Glock is messing with the current design to make more money. Glock wishes to cater to people like me that cannot stand the current grip frame.
I’m looking forward to the next generation Glock.
The adjustable Glock will be featured at the next SHOTSHOW along with the Glock sub-sub compact single stack 9mm and the Glock Carbine… or maybe not. LOL!
I replaced my Glocks with M&P’s because of the backstrap. I’ve never looked back since but I will be checking out the adjustable backstrap Glocks when they come out, especially if they’re compatible with the 33-round 9mm mags. That is unless S&W starts making a 33-round mag for the M&P9…
My point is that in their ignorant high opinion of their “perfect” product, they lost out to many with the M&P, and other more modern and user friendly designs.
I really don’t think “perfection” was ever referring to the backstrap. That would be impossible considering the variety of human hands. (Can’t believe this needs clarifying) The function of the gun was the closest to the mark of “perfection” when it was introduced. Still the most reliable in my experience.
That said, I’m glad to see Glock keeping up with the industry. I’ve never understood the hostility toward such a fine weapon that has saved so many lives, including my own. I am so glad I didn’t have “less than perfection” when my life was on the line.
Sometimes it seems like M&P should stand for “Mean and Petty”. You would think we all would be grateful for the advancement in arms by any company. I know I am.
The only people I see who aren’t glad to see these changes are the Glock kool-aide drinkers who’ve spent so much time & energy saying the Glock didn’t need adjustable-this and reversible-that. But assuming the core gun still runs as well as current Glocks, a new-generation G19 will definitely be finding its way into my life sooner rather than later.

I just don’t care if they update the design or not. We still sell ’em faster than we can get ’em these days, which also applies to the MnP, which seem to be, for the most part, sold out at all the distributors we deal with. If they’re gonna change anything else, a slightly longer tang would make ’em more comfortable for me, but I still carry my G19 concealed and compete with a 17. At work, where I open carry, I more often than not have my full sized MnP. They’re all pretty much interchangable to me…except that the MnP would have been better if the trigger was more like the Glock. The lack of positive reset is a pain.
Guys, except for what’s been discussed publicly by Glock folks, I can’t comment on any other changes that may be coming down the pike. As soon as things “go public,” even in the smallest venue, we’ll do our best to announce them here.
