The 15,000 mark has come and gone. In fact, 3,174 rounds have come and gone over the past week.
The test gun (pictured at right with one of its ancestors, the P9S) has now fired 6,000 rounds without cleaning and with only occasional lubrication. Still no problems since it came back from Columbus.
Over the past two weeks, I’ve put a lot of time into reload practice. The magazine well of the P30 is only slightly beveled so as speed cranks up so do the odds of a fumble. Luckily, a little time with a trusty file and then an emory board was all it took to add some flare to the mag well. From a shooting standpoint, this is the only real fault the gun has shown so far. The whole job probably took 15 minutes and while it’s not pretty, it’s functional.
My average reload has improved by about two-tenths of a second, but the number of fumbled reloads has dropped close to zero. From concealment (closed front, untucked polo) I’m averaging at or just below the 1.80-second mark now, though I’ve had some runs hovering on either side of 1.6.
