1797 Rounds
0 Malfunctions, 2 Stoppages, 0 Parts Breakage
Today was the day. Or yesterday, to be precise for you reading this on Tuesday. The little pistol that could had two separate stoppages today. The first was a failure to feed. The pin landed on an empty chamber and a quick tap rack brought the next round from the magazine into the chamber. I don’t know why that happened. Maybe the round was slightly underpowered and the slide didn’t make it all the way back. Maybe something else happened. I’m sure the lack of maintenance had nothing to do with it. In case your sarcasm meter is broken…
The next stoppage occurred at about the 1787 round count. An ejected case got caught by the slide, which you can see in the picture. Again, a tap rack cleared it and the gun finished shooting the remaining rounds. I think this gun has performed absolutely brilliantly, and frankly I don’t begrudge the gun its stoppages at this point. But, stoppages are stoppages, so the question is, what do we do now? Keep going and see what happens? Clean and lube the gun and see what happens? With just over 200 rounds to go, let me know in the comments what you would like to see happen.
Keep going!
Definitely, thanks!
run it to the 2000 mark and then you better get caught up on the reloading lol
Thankfully no reloading to do.
Keep going but change ammo. It’s more useful to know if the problems continue because of the gun or stop because of a bad case of ammo. Besides, if something was actually broken you’d know after 2k and pulling it apart for cleaning.
There is nothing wrong with the ammo, so I will stick with it, but I will definitely tear it down and se if anything is wrong.
Take it to 2,000 and then do a thorough examination with detailed photos. Don’t clean anything.
I’m going to examine it now, but then continue until 2000, unless it won’t get through a mag. Then I’ll clean and lube it and see if it works better.
I’m mildly surprised it got this far. My guess is it’s just dirty; smaller guns/ light calibers eventually will just get sluggish and stop. If you want to go to 2000, I’d suggest a few drops of lube and see if it gets through the last 200. Otherwise, I think you’ll just see more stoppages. Then clean, carefully inspect and change the recoil spring(smaller guns work springs more, IMO). After cleaning, if you decide to carry it, I’d run a mag or two to confirm function and move on.
I kinda want one now, dang it…
I agree with your assessment. This will never be a carry gun for me though, as I have another one for that, so I can be a bit more cavalier with this one.
