S&W Bodyguard 2.0

It’s been a while since I made a video, so here is a short clip of the new 380. It is a very shootable gun with a lot to like. Barely bigger (like a hair) than the old Bodyguard, it is much nicer to shoot. With ball ammo, I could shoot it all day without discomfort. Hollowpoints have a little more recoil but nothing unpleasant. The stack and a half mag really distributes the recoil well and adds nothing meaningful to the bulk of the gun. The mags hold either 10 rounds flush or 12 rounds extended, but I found the last round to be about impossible to load. Regardless, it is the most shootable little .380 I have ever shot. The sights and trigger are excellent for fast work. I expect S&W will sell a bunch of these. Just don’t pocket carry without a holster to protect the trigger.

  1. Your wife made a great comparison on YouTube vs the 1.0. I’ve already told my LGS I want one. I’ve had a Kahr CW380 for deep deep concealment but never grew to like it. It’s small enough that for the last many years I could carry it to family gatherings with anti-gunners never knowing any better. Looking forward to trying the Bodyguard.

    1. Glad to hear it. I think the 2.0 is really pretty impressive so far. I can nitpick a little, but try running a plate rack with the 1.0, lol.

  2. How does the recoil compare to the G42 (which is extremely soft shooting)?

    1. It has been years since I shot a 42, sorry. I believe the 2.0 is “softer” but I’d have to do a side by side.

    1. If you are talking about the 1.0, I suppose so. The 2.0 does not have a safety. Though I like safeties in general, I don’t think these little guns benefit from them. My 1.0 is the version without the safety, though we have the safety version here as well.
