Trouble Finding Mags for SIGs?

So is SIG, apparently.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SIG SAUER® Commercial Pistols Now Shipping with Single Magazine

EXETER, NH – SIG SAUER, the leading manufacturer of military, law enforcement, government agency, and commercial firearms, has announced effective March 20, 2009, that all commercial pistols with a standard configuration of two magazines will now ship with a single magazine. This change in configuration is a result of the critical shortage of magazines throughout the industry. SIG SAUER’s decision to ship commercial pistols with one magazine will allow existing and new orders to be processed without interruption. Without this change in policy, magazine availability would severely hinder SIG SAUER’s ability to meet market demand and ship product in a timely manner. Distributor and dealer single magazine pistol shipments commence immediately. For more information on SIG SAUER, or any if its products, visit www.sigsauer.com.

Before you buy a SIG pistol, be sure you can get enough magazines for it.

  1. So are they going to lower the price of the pistol or provide a voucher for another mag? Not that i would buy a Sig these days anyway.

  2. WOW! Im sorry but if a manufacturer is having supply issues they need to either A. Tool up and take control of the manufacturing of their magazines, B. Fire their supplier and promptly find a new supplier, C. Drop the price of their product to compensate for their issues. It honestly sounds like to me they are taking care of their contracts and sticking it to the end consumer. I could be wrong but that is my gut reaction.

  3. I wonder if they’ll either a) drop the price or b) include a voucher for the other magazine? Somehow I doubt it.

  4. It’s all this freaking out people are doing. They fear a future lack of mags so they’re buying them like crazy causing a shortage… just like gas a while back and remember Y2K? Not saying getting basic preparations done now is dumb (got a stripped ar lower yesterday) just saying not to go crazy. Just get what you need.

  5. Three weeks ago I bought 3 Sig brand magazines from Midway on special for $29.99 for my 229. They still have them available for #34.99. What critical shortage does Sig have that Midway doesn’t? Obviously the shortage Sig has is one of not making enough money.

  6. To be blunt….I believe this is a LOAD OF CRAP. Since when does the manufacturer have difficulty finding it’s own product. This is simply a way of them cutting costs and raising their bottom line. Simply my .02

  7. Yep, my shop I work at is receiving SIGs with one mag only. No, they are not shipping them with a coupon for a free mag.

It is weird to me that Smith and Wesson is still having the 2 free mag sale with any new M&P purchase. I can’t imagine they are A) having a hard time selling the M&P or B) have an excess supply of mags to give away. But it certainly helps them sell more pistols – SIG needs to take notes.

  8. I don’t think this is about short supply. It’s about opportunity for profit. Sadly, deeds like this lead loyalists away from SIG and turns their trademark into an emblem of soulless commercialism. I remember the days when it wasn’t uncommon to buy pistols with only one mag packaged. Then SIG was an emblem for quality and a professional tool, and they always including two mags standard. SIG is going in the wrong direction. And, as Frederick Nietzsche might say, “SIG is dead.”

  9. Did Sig make a management change a while back ?
Kimber only ships one mag .
Hope the change is not what I’m thinking.
    Good bye quality control
Btw , took the advice of a very well respected teacher and shooter and sold them all. lol

  10. Look into Mec-Gar Magazines. They are the company that supplies both Sig and Military/Government additional magazines.

  11. I bought my Sig P-226 Combat about month and half ago, and it came with 2 – 10rds mag.
And I live in PA. Distributer could not find one with 15rds mag.

But then after I got the weapon, I ordered 3 mec-gar from midway, and showed up without delay..
