Why Training?

So I’ve been reading through 167‘s last month of blog posts and came upon this awesome gem:

So instead of seeking out quality instruction so that we can practice well on our own time, we just go hit the nail harder with the same old hammer and end up bending the nail.

Train hard & stay safe! ToddG

  1. Thanks for showing us that blog.

    He actually had a poor review of a training class. Kind of refreshing and goes a long way to proving he can have a critical eye.

    Contrast that to another forum, where every AAR says this trainer has to go on the ‘must train with’ list.

  2. So it’s wrong to just swing that hammer harder and with more abandon every time, instead of learning how to do it properly?

    Who knew…. lol

  3. No no no. You go drop a grand on a new hammer – everybody knows that’s how you get better 😉

  4. To add to those thoughts;

    I wish I had been to some of the training that I have more recently attended MUCH earlier in my shooting career.

    Unlearning F’d up training is vastly harder than learning it right the first time.

    I still have a few issues with what I am told is known as “spontaneous recovery of previously suppressed behavior”.
