M&P Monday: Week Fifteen

29,999 rounds
2 stoppages, 0 malfunctions, 0 parts breakages

Shooting was halted during Week Fifteen because we have special plans in store for firing round #30,000 through the test gun. So at 29,999 we stopped.

Without much shooting going on this week, it was mostly just practice drills. The gun successfully shot the Dot Torture drill clean at an impressive nine yards. It also turned in some respectable times on the F.A.S.T., as you can see here:

Those scores are from a prototype version of the Looper holster designed for appendix carry, concealed under an untucked polo. The draw times (D) aren’t too bad when you consider they are for a 3×5 card at seven yards, but the reloads (R) are a challenge from underneath that untucked shirt! Expect to hear more on the appendix Looper in the coming weeks.

The pistol will be in Pittsburgh this week as part of the pistol-training.com Aim Fast, Hit Fast class being taught there. Hopefully, a number of the students will take some time to handle the gun and give their impressions … particularly of the trigger (MA trigger bar & spring + PC sear) and the JohnO High Visibility front sight.

Train hard & stay safe! ToddG

  1. it would be cool to see a video of it! if and or when you send this m&p back to s&w so they can oooo and aww over it what will you carry? i know you have gun-o-plenty but what’s it gonna be?

  2. rob — No video, just photos. Took them today. One will be posted in next week’s report.

david — Actually, I own very few firearms. As for what happens at the end of 50,000 that will depend a lot on Smith and other potential sponsors.

The Fish — Negative, #30,000 was fired today (Tu 5-Aug-08).
