As a follow-up to Justin Dyal’s class, here is an article that he wrote some years ago. This should give you some insight into professional training issues as well as Justin’s way of thinking about things. Much more could have been written about the class, but I didn’t want to give it all away. I will add though, that Justin is the consummate quiet professional. Aside from an impressive career in special operations, he is an accomplished competition shooter, especially so since he doesn’t compete regularly. Justin can shoot any gun well, and not just the major ones. Webley revolvers, 1851 Navy’s, you name it, he can shoot it well.

The picture above was taken after Justin demo’d a drill in class. I don’t remember which drill it was, but it was not an easy one and as you can see from the target, he shot a perfect score.

This article was written while still on active duty, and under a pen name. Enjoy!

  1. I’ve been impressed with Justin for quite a while. By chance, I recently started reading archived articles by “Ethan Johns” on SWAT Magazine. I didn’t realize they were the same person. But now I understand why the articles by “Ethan Johns” are so well reasoned and informative.
