The Best Way to Train

“…We’re all the product of all our training and while something I said or did might have turned on the lightbulb this year, it might not have last year or might not next year. In my opinion you’ve got the exact right approach: take quality instruction from multiple quality trainers, practice like your life depends on it, and use your brain to find Your Way instead of wasting a lifetime trying to discover The Way.”

The above quote from TLG pretty much sums it up. Putting in the effort is more important than who you take a class from, but a class can be a good thing every once in a while. This year has seen me at more classes than usual and they were mostly time well spent. I have one more class to go to later this year and I’m pretty excited about it, so stay tuned for a report when I get back.

Before that class though, a couple of friends are coming out to train with JAG and me and shoot some action pistol. It should be an epic long weekend.

Once our action pistol season is over, I will be focusing a bit on practical shooting, assuming USPSA is still alive. And if it’s not, there are plenty of other options for shooting sports these days. Find one or two you like and go shoot. As TLG would say, “Train hard and stay safe!”

  1. Timely, just finished 2 days of training with Eric Grauffel in Quimper. Man, if you and JAG ever need a vacation in France, go train with him. Extremely high level drive with high level instruction, now tops of the list of classes I’ve taken.

  2. He is on my short list of guys who I need to train with. JAG has been talking to him about coming out our way, so maybe next year it will work out. Glad to hear you thought so highly of the class and him!

    1. I know his travel classes have been reduced, but he should be in the USA a couple times next year, SHOT Show he usually does a class, but that is pretty open enrolment. If you can make it to a higher level class of his, I think you’d gain a lot from it. His critical eye is amazing and his ability to get his point across is too.
