The New Duty Sight

I mentioned earlier that I was shooting a new mini RDS, and I have now been given the go-ahead to start discussing it. C&H Precision Weapons (CHPWS.com) has several new sights that are about to hit the market. Some are open emitter’s, but the one I have is called the Duty, and is a closed emitter. I have been shooting the Duty now for a little while and really have very little to report, lol. It works very well. It fits the Acro footprint and is a very similar size and shape. The controls are easy to use and the adjustments have held just fine. Battery changes are fast and easy, and removing the optic from the slide and replacing it causes no discernible change in zero at normal distances. The dot is 3 MOA and I understand that will be the only size offered unless there is an overwhelming demand for something else.

All of the optics coming out will share the same basic specs:

10 levels of brightness (2 NV / 8 Visible)
Shake Awake
50,000 hour battery
Made from 7075 Aluminum
Shock Rated for Duty Ammo (+P and +P+)
Waterproof to IPX7

I’ve been using the Duty on a G17, but actually just switched it to a 19T MOS for some force-on-force training I have coming up. If it gets shot in the lens, we will see what happens as that is a rough test for most RDS sights. Once that’s over, it will be going on a G22, and we will see how it handles the recoil of the .40 S&W.

Please bear in mind that I have been shooting this optic, not abusing it or attempting to formally test it. I have had a lot of good experience using the C&H plates on various Glocks, and so far, this new sight is living up to that experience.

I’m told that pre-orders will start next Tuesday and that the optics will start shipping in April. I know of at least one large agency that is already in line to buy some and start testing.

  1. It’s great to see new optics hitting the market. I’ve run CHPWS plates on a couple of pistols and have no complaints. Hoping these have the same great quality..
