With a felt temp of 115 degrees, I shot my first local USPSA match in about 10 years. It was rough. In the negative column, USPSA shooters have not improved their willingness to help paste or reset targets. Fingers are still on the trigger as they move around the stage (not the better shooters, of course). One stage had a legit 50 yards of running involved. On the plus side, the match had a good range of close fast targets as well as far and harder targets. I met a few nice local shooters who all shot well.
Also in the plus category, I found lots of things to work on. I came in 5th with the highest A count, so over confirming for sure. I also failed to seat a mag fully so that added at least a second to that stage. I can’t say I like the extended baseplate deal. Most of the other things are not important to shooting, which is one of my issues with USPSA, but if you want to be good at a game, you have to learn to play the game. I’m going to play it for a little while and then reassess the utility of continuing.
Finally, I shot my Gen6 17 for reasons, but I think I will go back to my P30L for the next one. Each gun has its pluses and minuses, so we will see if it matters to me at all.
